Recently I visited Vietnam. Like every other country there are few things special about Vietnam. Some of you might have seen and heard of it. For the rest of you, here are few facts I learnt about Vietnam.

Snake Whiskey

Snake WhiskeyIn Vietnam you can find shops selling Snake Whiskey. This is not a photo from a tribal village. Snake whiskey is available in many big shopping places including in those spots where the tour operators stop for taking a break. According to Vietnamese snake whiskey got medicinal values and if regularly taken it can boost your health. I have seen similar stuff in Laos also.
If you are animal lover you must be feeling bad against this cruelty. If not, anyone wanna have a drink? :)

Vietnam War

Ever wondered why Vietnam war took such a long time? Vietnam is the only war that was ever fought where the president told the force when, what, how and what to bomb, attack and act against. So all orders where kind of delayed.

Vietnam Red Shanked Douc

Monkey
Do you like Monkeys? The Red-shanked Douc is found only in Vietnam. (Some people also believe that few of these species are left in Laos as well) Today only few hundreds of these rare langur are left in the world. It is listed as endangered in the World Conservation Union’s Red Book. This colorful red-shanked douc langur resembles like a potbellied little man wearing a gray shirt and black pants. They mostly eat leaves and lives in group.
You can read more about them here.

Vietnam Economy

The war had its effect on Vietnam economy. But in the 3 decades since Vietnam has gone from communism to a form of capitalism, it has started surpassing many of its neighboring countries. Reports shows that Vietnam has Asia’s second fastest growing economy, with a growth rate of 8.4 during 2006r, trailing only to China’s growth rate. Many major companies have been shifting its operation to Vietnam in recent months.

Threesome on Vietnam Road

Vietnam Threesome I know what you are thinking. :)
Sorry you won’t see such pictures here. This is about one of the common sights in Vietnam. I could see three or more people riding on small motor bikes through the busy roads of Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam. When I took this picture there were policemen standing on the street. But they didn’t seem to worry about it.
Anyone want to take a lesson on safe riding?

Rare Vietnamese Orchid

Vietnamese Orchid This rare orchid which can found only in Vietnam is called Dendrobium Ochraceum. This extremely rare orchid is found in Vietnam’s evergreen forests. But these lands are being extensively occupied and cleared for crop and land by the local people.
Any orchid lovers out there who want to save this rare gift?
