I don’t see Seo Link Vine too much different from the AMA or MAN. My guess is that Brad understood that the paid blog network model for link building is a very lucrative business model since it is a continuity membership program.

Anyway I will post few articles on Seo Link Vine network exclusively and post the result here.

Recently I have updated firefox to the new version. After the update, whenever I use the built-in search box I was getting search results from google’s local language search. I live in Thailand and I was search for Ivybot using the search box in Mozilla firexfox browser. It will then take me to Google Thailand and show me all the results in Thai language. I can’t read Thai and this was driving me crazy because I tried various methods including changing the google preference language. Finally after some research I found the solution.

How to Change Firefox Google Search Language to English?
This solution works for Firefox 3.0.13. I am not sure if the same technique will work for future versions. Ok, let’s fix our problem.

1. Go to the firefox folder inside your computer. Typically it is located at, C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox

2. Open the google.xml file under the search plugins folder. That is go to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins and right click on google.xml and “open with” notepad.

3. Towards the middle of the file you will see,

<param name=“q” value=“{searchTerms}”/>

4. Add the following to the next line.

<param name=“hl” value=“en”/>

So now your google.xml file should look like,

<param name=“q” value=“{searchTerms}”/>
<param name=“hl” value=“en”/>
<param name=“ie” value=“utf-8″/>

…..

5. Save the file

6. Restart firefox

Now all the search results should be displayed in English. Hope I saved some of you guys from losing your sanity. LOL!

“Google loves quality content”. Bull Crap!
You might have heard many webmasters saying that if you have quality content and quality links pointing to your site google will rank you high. This true until a webpage is created on the subject by an authority website. Google’s illicit love to authority site is notorious. Few years back there was thread on a busy webmaster forum on this subject. At that time if you search for the term guitar software, the first position on the search result page was an internal page of about.com The page contained one heading with keyword and just one sentence which said something like, “There are some guitar software available online”. That’s all. Hundreds of other websites with high quality content related to the topic were not to be seen on first few pages of SERPS. And many of them had decent backlinks.
Recently I was thinking of promoting some clickback products and wanted to check the competition on google. I was surprised to see that google has not changed. Most of the top results were occupied by web2.0 authority sites. You know, the sites where you can create a web pages freely. I am not talking about social bookmarking sites or Digg here. These are sites similar to blogger. But they had literally no content. Example I was searching for Pip Mavens Review, a new forex mentor program. I found that the first page is full of web 2.0 sites like Scribd, Zimbio etc. (This could change depending upon, when you are reading this post.
None of those search results had any quality content. In fact I couldn’t find a half-decent review page on the first 3 search result pages. Then a found on forth page at Pip Mavens, but the page was not even listed on google. I found it since the main page of this forex site was listed on google for the search term Pip Mavens review. May be google is yet to index that page though it seems to me that the page is online long enough for google to index.
Anyway, my point is google is giving too much importance on Authority sites as a result all the spammers are creating one page crap and exploiting google while honest affiliates go in the WhiteHat direction and fail. To test this I have created a similar page on a web2.0 site and sure enough it is ranking on first page while my pure white hat site with excellent quality content is on 48th position. It makes me wonder what is the point in creating a good site with quality content and trying to get few affiliate sales here and there when you can simple churn out crappy one page web2.0 pages and make 1000 of dollars every month.
No wonder more and more people are going to Black hat world.

How many adsense ad blocks can you place on your webpage? According to google, you are allowed to place up to 3 ad units+2 link units on any single web page with content. So then, how will you explain the following webpage?

This is a screenshot of a local newspaper website from India. If you check the source code they have only 3 ad units. But they are 120×600 ads.

This is how did the trick.
1. First they have created a page with just two ad blocks. You can see the page here.

2. Next they called the above page twice on their regular content pages through iframes.

3. Use the power of CSS to display the ads close.
Sneaky!

The sad part is that most of these sites will not be punished by google since they are considered as authority websites. If a regular webmaster does this, then he is banned from adsense. Way to go!!

Christmas is around the corner and another year is coming to an end. Year 2008 was witnessed many events some sad incidents like the Mumbai terrorists attack and unrest in Congo and some historic events like American election where the Americans created history by selecting their first black President.
Now the new year is just a few day away and I wanted to get something special for my family. I have been thinking of getting a HDTV for my house. Naturally I went to google and searched through the best HDTV reviews available online. I found that most of the Samsung HDTV models are rated high by most of the reviews. Few years back I wouldn’t have imagined Samsung beating Sony HDTV models. But they have done it through their excellent quality products and customer service. How important is customer service and after sales service? Take a look at Toshiba. One of their HDTV models Toshiba 42RV530U is high definition television with awesome picture quality and features. But if you see the customer reviews of this Toshiba HDTV, you will see that there are few customers who are very disappointed with the poor customer service from Toshiba. Will it affect the sales of this TV? You bet… Look at the best selling HDTV models of 2008. Even Philips managed to get inside the list with their eco friendly HDTV, where as Toshiba is nowhere in top 10, despite of their excellent quality products.
Toshiba being a Japanese company where customers are treated like god, should have given more importance to their customer service and after care service. During the time of economic slowdown it is important that companies treat their customers well to boost the customer confidence. Let us hope for a better 2009 and a great year ahead.

If you are an adsense publisher, you might have noticed that in March google introduced a change in their terms and conditions for adsense users. If you are like many other webmasters who just clicked on agree and logged into your adsense account, you might not have noticed that according to the new TOS, google requires all the adsense publishers to have a Privacy Policy on their website. And google wants you to do this before 25th May, 2008.

According to this policy, publishers must notify their users of the use of cookies and/or web beacons to collect data in the ad serving process.

So what will do if you have many sites? Go and write privacy policy for each of these sites. That will be really time consuming. But don’t worry. We now have Google adsense Privacy Policy generators online. Thanks to the webmasters who spend their time and effort to help others. Here sre some of the free privacy policy makers I came across.

Privacy Policy Generators for all type Sites:

DMA Privacy Generator

Privacy Policy Generators for Blogs:

Wordpress Privacy Plugin

I am sure more webmasters will soon create privacy policy creation tools. Please notify me using the comment form, if you come across any new. I will update this post accordingly.

If you have been using a PC for sometime, then you already might know that the Print Screen feature allows you to capture a snap shot of entire desktop. For those who doesn’t know, you can press on the “PrintScreen” button on your keyborad now and open a program like MS Paint or MS Excel and use the paste function (ctrl+v) to paste the screen shot of entire desktop. This function is very useful to take a screen shot of a website or a video.

How to use Print Screen to capture a video shot from windows media player?

I used to play the video in windows media player and simply press the PrintScreen button to capture a screen shot of the video. But that only worked in the earlier version. The new versions of windows media player (I am using version 11) is giving me a black space at the video area after the Print Screen shot is pasted in my favorite photo editor (photoshop). So I digged a bit to find out how can I solve the windows media player print screen problem. After searching on many forums and playing with many settings on media player I found that the video acceleration setting is the culprit. So here you go.

Open windows media player.
From the top menu choose, Tools>>Options
A new window with Option will open. In the Options window choose Performance tab.

Under the Performance tab you can see Video acceleration. Click on Advanced.
Under the advanced Video Acceleration Settings, uncheck Use overlays. Click Ok and apply. You are ready to go.

You are all set. Enjoy your video screen shot with the push of a button (and paste)

It has been a a turbulent tour for Indians, marked by a racism row involving Harbhajan Singh and a series of on-field bickering. Part of the blame goes to Australian media who were trying to exploit the feeling of Australian cricket fans by pin pointing some of the Indian players. After their lost in the first final of the CB cup, even the famous Australian cricket website cricketnews.com.au picked on Harbhajan Sing.

On March 03, 2008 www.cricketnews.com.au wrote,

Australia lost, the all conquering almighty team of the past two decades came crashing down and it was all due to one man. The turbinator, the man publicly named as an obnoxious weed - Harbhajan Singh brought the downfall of Australia by his mere presence.

Had the Australian cricket players choose to play good cricket instead of picking on Indian players, things would have been different. I know many Australians who are unhappy with the whole thing. At least some of my Australian friends do feel that Cricket is a game which is meant to improve friendship and better relation between the players and the countries. I know Indians share the same views. It is probably the Australian media who made things worse.
Sachin Tendulkar who led Indian to their first final victory at Sydney with his superb century again displayed a magnificent batting performance to hit a near miss century. Sachin was dismissed when his score was at 91. This is the sixteenth time the Indian batting star is loosing his wicket at nineties. Sachin is on the top of the list of batsmen who lost wicket during the nineties. Man of the match Praveen Kumar bowled brilliantly to capture 4 wickets including three top order Australian batsmen.
All credits goes to Dhoni and his boys! Congratulations and keep up the good work guys!
