Benazir Bhutto, the former prime minister of Pakistan was shot and killed on Thursday, 27th December 2007 by an assassin as she waved to her supporters from the sunroof of her armored vehicle. The suicide attacker then blew himself up, killing many others. Pakistani people are shocked at this tragic incident.
Pakistan a strong U.S. ally is in the process of restoring the democracy and a general election in supposed to be held on January 8th, 2008. The US government gives billions of dollars to Pakistan as an aid to fight terrorism. But the opposition blame that most of the funds are spent on building arms and weapons to oppose their strong neighbor India. May be it is time for Washington to have a close look at how Pakistan utilize the funds derived from the American tax payers. Though majority of Pakistanis and Indians want to resolve the issues between two countries and live in peace, some of the other forces explot the conflict between the two countries for their own benefits.
It is a sad day for all Pakistanis and people around the world who love peace.
